Bring Back #Memories with a #Childhood Toy

rubiks cube

Today’s Challenge: Bring back memories with a childhood toy.

I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and ended up in the toy department searching for the Rubik’s Cube. I’m not sure why… I didn’t know if the Rubik’s Cube was still around or easily available. I assumed I’d have to order it online, but to my surprise, there it was, updated and hanging on a hook at Wal-Mart. I decided to buy it.

This toy brought up so many memories and I’ve discovered the Rubik’s Cube is a great conversation piece.

What are your memories of the Rubik’s Cube? Were you able to solve the cube?

What is your favorite childhood game or toy? Is it still available? Or do you have it hidden in the attic or garage?

Make it #Easy

easy

Today’s Challenge: Make it easy.

This goes for the goals we want to achieve, dinner we want to cook, work we need to complete, weight we want to lose, friends we want to keep, errands we need to run, habits we want to break, and everything else in our lives.

We tend to complicate things when there is almost always an easier way. I’m guilty. 🙂

Recently, I’ve had several people (reviewers, bloggers and other authors) contact me about reviewing my books. THIS IS VERY EXCITING!!! So I’ve decided to try to “Make it easy” and I now have a For Reviewers page on my site. YAY!  (Upper menu, far right.)

I’m also available for interviews and guest posts. 🙂

About my Novels:

The Gentlemen’s Club is all about the struggles of a young woman (Angie), and deals with many women’s issues: Domestic Violence, Rape and Sexual Assault, Equality, and so on… This novel is not about women being victims, it’s about women overcoming hard times and becoming stronger and better than the people who try to knock them down.

NEW COVER reprinted with new cover

Touchable Love is about a woman (Christy) who has made bad choices causing her to build up walls for protection. Two amazing men come into her life and teach her all about love and healthy relationships. (I’m not sure why a reviewer claimed Christy had a sexual relationship with both men–Clearly she did not read the book. LOL) Anyway, Christy bravely and creatively faces her demons in hopes of a better life.

NEW COVER reprinted with new cover

Returning Injury is about a woman (Rebecca) who is being tormented by a stalker. She has to find her inner strength, trust her instinct, and face all of her insecurities and doubts about her life.

The Dumpster is a light-hearted romance about a naive woman (Nicole) who falls in love too easily. She suffers heartache after heartache because men do not want to marry her. When Nicole’s two best friends start to settle down and her own parents go through uncertainty in their relationship, Nicole realizes she better make changes in her life or she’s going to end up alone.

Traveling for Love makes divorce not look so bad. Amanda is lost after her divorce. She feels rejected and her self-esteem is in the toilet. After she finds a job she enjoys and starts getting out with friends, she slowly discovers that divorce is not the end of the world. In an unconventional way, she learns more about herself and her wants and needs.

NEW COVER

I also have a children’s book, Blue the Bird On Flying, a gift book, The Woman’s Handbook and two self-help booklets: 2 Days to healthy Self-Esteem and Secrets of a Thin Woman for .99 each. Oh, and my app, I’m Upset! which is a check in for women and was inspired by Returning Injury and The Dumpster.

When #People Around You Are Driving You #Crazy…

crazy

Today’s Challenge: When people around you are driving you crazy, step away and get some alone time. 🙂

I’ve had to ignore phone calls. I’ve had to avoid people. I’ve even had to close my blinds and lock myself in my home alone, just to catch my breath. LOL 🙂

It’s so nice to step away once in a while… refreshing.

#Listen to People You #Trust

listen

Today’s Challenge: Listen to people you trust.

My editor told me my novel wasn’t finished, there was no ending…

Frustrated, I took a break. When I reread the book, I discovered she was right.

A couple of days ago, I woke up crying (happy tears) because the ending came to me…

Now I’m back to rewriting.

It’s funny how I can be so stubborn and stuck on one line… only later to discover that the one line wasn’t that good after all… LOL 🙂

Make a #List of the Things You Like to Do for #Fun

Today’s Challenge: Make a list of the things you like to do for fun… then pick one and do it this weekend! 🙂

I pulled an all-nighter Wednesday night. Thursday morning, I was somewhat delirious from lack of sleep. But a funny thing happened…

I tapped into things I had forgotten about myself.

I’m not sure if the sleeplessness brought me back to my twenties when I pulled all-nighters of partying, drinking, and having fun, but I was overwhelmed by the fact that these days, I had neglected fun in my life.

Heading home from the airport, I mentally made a list of what I enjoy. It started off a little slow with museums and art galleries. Traveling was next on my list. Then came the realization that I like to take part in activities. I don’t like to sit and watch somebody else moving–I want to move. I’d rather go for a walk and talk with a friend than have lunch and talk. I’d rather swim or play catch at the beach than lay in the sun. I want to go bowling, swimming, indoor skydiving, almost anything that is active (within reason, I’m not into extreme, dangerous stuff) 🙂 I’m also the type of person that wants to try everything once. I want to do and see everything!  I’ve traveled a lot in my life, but I have no interest in going back to any of the places I’ve been–I’d rather go to new places I haven’t seen yet. 🙂

Strange how a lack of sleep caused an awakening in me! 🙂 This weekend I’m going to do something I enjoy–something true to who I am. 🙂

What are you going to do this weekend?

Find Something #Funny About Today and #Laugh

laugh

Today’s Challenge: Find something funny about today and laugh.

#Listen to Your #Body…

stress

Today’s Challenge: Listen to your body.

I know I’m going through something serious when my body tells me… When I have DEEP feelings of fear, confusion, and rejection, my body reacts. My stomach does flips and refuses all food. When I can’t eat, I start to drop weight. Sleeping through the night is impossible because my mind won’t, can’t relax. I get headaches and sometimes have tightness in my chest–my heart might even decide to beat at a faster pace than needed.

Clearly, when this happens, I’m in a state of fight or flight. In other words, I need to either fight for my rights, needs, life… or I need to run like crazy and get the He** away from the problem.

The decision causes more havoc on me and my body. What should I do? Should I stay and fight or should I run? That fear of the unknown sets in… Scary!

But what is even scarier, is to do nothing. To let your body stay in that fight or flight mode for weeks, months, years…

… causing illness, depression, addiction, rage…

Sometimes our body is screaming at us to be brave and stand up to our fears… but usually our body is simply saying, “Please listen to me.”

Be Cautious of Where You’re Building #Momentum

hill momentum

Today’s Challenge: Be cautious of where you’re building momentum.

Once we start moving our thoughts in a direction, and we start building momentum in that direction, it can be hard to change our course.

Building momentum in negativity, bad attitude and mean thoughts can quickly bring us down.

But building momentum in optimism, positive attitude and compassionate thoughts can quickly lead us down the path of happiness and empowerment.

Staying cautious of where we build momentum is important in every aspect of our lives… Our physical activity and exercise, our relationships, and our efforts to follow our dreams.
