I found a quiet campsite in the woods, and managed a van “bath” and washed my hair before going to the Dunes for a challenging sand hike to Lake Michigan.

Solo Camping and Solo Hiking on my Road Trip through the Midwest.
I had a beautiful riverside campsite in Nebraska.
Alone on my hike, a man made me uncomfortable, so I did not finish exploring Smith Falls.
Found a nice Missouri River overlook, had a truckstop shower, and then spent the night in my best friend’s driveway.
Cleaned up at a rest stop, and a fellow traveler forgot their cooler in the parking lot.
Loved exploring more of Nebraska.

I survived a brief wasp attack while hiking Scotts Bluff, avoided some loud people at Fort Niobrara overlook, and arrived late to my campsite.
But I loved every second!

I kept searching for a place to hike in Oklahoma. I was tested… until I found a wonderful, unexpected alternative! Turns out I didn’t need a “hike,” I just needed to get out and move! And a lake full of turtles! I love these surprise detours!
Much soul searching on this drive… I’m going to find a way to take more road trips, more car camping, and much more traveling the USA!

Another wonderful road trip exploring the South. I did some car camping, hiking in the rain, and tried Possum Pie in Arkansas for the first time.
My lights stopped working, I “fell” on my hike, lots of rain, my pedometer stopped working, I didn’t sleep well…
But I wouldn’t change a thing! I love exploring this beautiful part of the USA.

I did some car camping at a state park with caves, so I did the cave tour.
I DIDN’T almost hit a bus and had no luck alligator hunting. 😄
But had some beautiful excursions while exploring Florida, and I managed to get in my minivan workout and 10,000 steps.

On my roadtrip, I did some roadside attractions on Route 66, sightseeing and hiking at Alley Springs and Mill in Missouri, over-ate gas station junk food, and had a night of truckstop camping. 🙂
